Pu

I’m gonna tell you about my two dogs, Pi and Pu. They get along super well, like a perfect little pair, but trust me, they can be a real handful at times!

Pi’s been my dog for a while now. He’s got these shiny black eyes that light up every time I walk through the door. I still remember when Pi first met Pu. He looked so excited. Pu is a 2-month-old dachshund with this smooth brown-and-black coat, kinda like a tiny princess that just walked into Pi’s life. If Pi could talk, I swear he’d be like, “Yep, she’s mine from now on!”

But things didn’t start off all smooth. Pu was so young, and when she first came to our house, everything freaked her out a bit. She wasn’t used to the food here and ended up getting sick. I remember Pi’s face when he saw her lying quietly in her crate. He was so worried! He kept nudging her with his nose, like he was saying, “Hey, get up and play with me already!” But Pu barely moved, just looking at him all tired.

So, off to the pet hospital Pu went – and guess what? It’s the same hospital where Pi had been when he got really sick once. Pi had a rough week there, but he pulled through. I think he must’ve remembered it because as soon as Pu left for the hospital, Pi wouldn’t budge from the door. He just sat there, staring at the door, waiting for Pu to come home. He wouldn’t even eat, just sat there quietly, looking all sad.

Whenever I petted him, Pi gave me those big puppy-dog eyes, like he was about to cry. He was seriously worried about Pu. I was worried too, but I had to keep it together for Pi’s sake.

Finally, the day came. That morning, I went outside and saw Pu had come back home. She still looked a little weak, but Pi? He was over the moon! He ran over to her like crazy, tail wagging non-stop, sniffing her everywhere as if to say, “You’re back! I missed you!” You could see the happiness in his eyes, and the way he danced around her made me laugh. Pi was finally relieved, and everything felt right again.

From that day on, Pi became Pu’s official protector. He followed her everywhere, not letting her out of his sight. Whenever Pu ate, Pi was right there next to her, making sure she was okay. Sometimes, it felt like Pi was taking his “job” a little too seriously, but I guess that’s just how he shows he cares.

Now that Pu’s all better, they’re back to their usual antics, running around the yard together like before. They’re always getting into some kind of mischief, whether it’s chasing leaves or just lounging in the sun. But ever since Pu got sick, I think Pi’s learned that taking care of someone is just as important as having fun.

Honestly, I learned that too. Friendship and love aren’t just about the good times, but sticking it out through the tough moments, no matter how big or small. Pi looked after Pu, and I took care of them both, and now we’ve got this little family full of love.
